Aurecon has signed an agreement with UK’s Transport Research Laboratory (TRL) to be the sole distributor of the world renowned traffic signal modelling software, TRANSYT, within Australia and New Zealand (ANZ). “TRANSYT offers our clients and the broader traffic modelling industry a user friendly and flexible toolset, capable of optimising traffic signal timings for multiple intersections, including the modelling of signalised roundabouts and bus and light rail / tram movements” said Brad Moyes, Aurecon’s Transport Development Manager. TRANSYT allows users to identify, assess and optimise both basic and complex intersection and road network improvements, in a more time and cost effective manner than current microsimulation models. Where required, it is also complimentary to microsimulation modelling, as its signal optimisations facility provides actual signal timings that can be incorporated into the models.
Aurecon provides a whole package in the use of Transyt, including product distribution, user training, product support and expert advice.
Mr Moyes added that “this initiative, along with the recent merger with specialist traffic and transport research-consulting company, IMIS and the appointment of Dr Hussein Dia as our Intelligent Transport Systems Group Leader, demonstrates Aurecon’s growing capability and reputation within the Traffic and Transport Planning industry, which now includes expertise within 12 offices in the ANZ region”.
Gavin Jackman, Head of Traffic and Software, at TRL said “working with Aurecon over the past 9 months has allowed us to experience at first hand the professional and dedicated nature of the team. I am confident having Aurecon as our local partner will benefit clients enormously and I look forward to working with them over the coming years”.
An international product, TRANSYT has been used for over 40 years by hundreds of consultancies and local authorities in 45 countries around the world.
Established for over 75 years and with 450 staff, TRL is an internationally recognised transport research organisation, providing transport solutions to governments, local authorities, regulatory bodies and private companies on a wide range of projects.
