Australian joint venture Connell Hatch announces name change to Aurecon Hatch

4 June 2009

Connell Hatch, one of Australia’s largest engineering joint ventures, has announced a name change to reflect the change of identity of one of its parent companies. From 1 June, Connell Hatch will be known as Aurecon Hatch.

Hatch and Aurecon (formerly Connell Wagner) have operated the Connell Hatch joint venture since 2002 and is an important part of the Australian export coal industry.

For seven years Connell Hatch has been a reliable provider of services to the coal industry, including engineering and/or project management to some of the largest coal terminals in the world, coal rail developments and mine developments.

Aurecon was created in March 2009 through the coming together of Australian based consultant Connell Wagner, with South African consultants Africon and Ninham Shand. Aurecon provide broad multi-disciplinary engineering, project management, environmental and consulting services for a wide range of clients.

Hatch supplies process and business consulting, information technology, engineering, and project and construction management to the mining, metallurgical, manufacturing, energy and infrastructure industries.

The joint venture will continue to provide solutions for the Australian coal export industry.

General Manager Ross Parslow said introducing the new name to clients is an opportunity to reinforce the reliability of the joint venture in delivering for the coal industry.

“The joint venture draws on the strength of the two parent companies, and has built a solid reputation in the export coal business. The change to Aurecon Hatch will reinforce the link to Aurecon and to Hatch within the market.”

“The joint venture is currently engineering and/or project managing more than 200 million tonnes per annum of new coal export capacity. Some of our clients know us best for our coal port and rail projects; others for coal mine development. Our aim is to serve the whole of the industry – from pit to port.”

“After operating as Connell Hatch for almost seven years, Aurecon Hatch is looking forward to continuing current projects and to starting the new projects expected to come online in the next 12 months.”

Some of our recent projects include the greenfield developments at Wiggins Island Coal Terminal and Newcastle Coal Infrastructure Group (NCIG) Coal Export Terminal, a new rail yard at Jilalan, and the proposed 210 km Surat Basin Railway.
