New Zealand Property Council award wins

3 August 2009

At the recent 2009 New Zealand Property Council Awards, Aurecon were winners in the categories of Special purpose and Education and Arts.

The Kakariki House in Hamilton won the Award of Merit for Special Purpose. The Kakariki House achieved a Four Green Star design rating in Hamilton and is the first building in Waikato to receive a Green Star rating. The project incorporates Environmentally Sustainable Design (ESD) principles through the materials used in energy, ventilation and water. Amanda Bryan (Aurecon Hamilton) was engaged as Green Star Accredited Professional for the project.

The new Brian Perry Sports House in Hamilton won the Award of Merit for Tourism & Leisure. Aurecon was engaged to undertake the mechanical, electrical, fire engineering,

"The main principles were to reduce overheads for the sport and enable collaboration across sport...this award is a real testament to the creativity and planning from the team behind it.”

Julie Nelson, WISE Chief Executive gave glowing praise for Kakariki House and Brian Perry Sports House. "These are two
