The Qatar Science and Technology Park (QSTP), was this month declared the building of the year at the 8th Annual Leading European Architects Forum (LEAF) held in Berlin. Aurecon acted as structural, civil, facade, security and fire life safety engineers on this project. Designed by architects Woods Bagot, the aesthetically striking QSTP was acclaimed as Best Overall Building and Best Commercial Building.         Part of Qatar Foundation’s Education City, the QSTP hosts technology centres for some of the world’s top corporations including EADS, ExxonMobil, GE, Microsoft, Virgin Health Bank, Shell and Total.
QSTP, which also comprises a business incubator to commercialise Qatar Foundation’s strong investment in research, has a key role in generating opportunities for Qatar’s scientists and entrepreneurs by creating an international hub for technology-based business and fostering the country’s knowledge economy.     Aurecon’s Building team in Adelaide provided structural, civil and façade engineering for the project, and delivered staged documentation to assist in achieving the very tight timeframe.
