Aurecon's sustainability offering features in national architect roadshow
13 November 2009

Jeff Robinson, Aurecon’s sustainable buildings group leader, is currently presenting on ‘re-lifing’ to architects at seminars taking place in nine cities across Australia.

He was invited by the Australian Institute of Architects (AIA) to participate in the Refuel national seminar series and give a fresh view on ways to improve the environmental performance of existing buildings and the quality of the working environment for building occupants.

His presentation highlights:

  • The economic life of buildings and what investments have to be made at different stages to keep them operating safely and reliably.
  • How proposed changes to the BCA will affect building refurbishments
  • Preparing a master plan for "Re-lifing' your building
  • Lower cost investments to "tune up" the environmental performance of existing buildings
  • New Technologies which can be employed as part of a sustainable refurbishment
  • Future trends in building and precinct design and the important role of "Re-lifing"

Jeff partnered with Mark Quinn a Director of Rider Levett Bucknall to provide analysis on the capital and ownership costs associated with refurbishing existing buildings rather than knocking down and rebuilding. They have now completed 8 of the 9 seminars with Perth on the 16th.

Over 200 architects attended the series and Jeff has already received many emails, enquiries and requests for further information which show just how effective such outreach can be.

Jeff Robinson is the Principal Engineer and Sustainable Buildings Group Leader for Aurecon, having worked as a consulting engineer for over 23 years in London, Ireland and Melbourne.

He is a passionate advocate for the design and renovation of Environmentally Sustainable Buildings and has been involved in many of the cutting edge ESD projects both in Melbourne and overseas.
